Ice Melt Activity

This was one of the biggest hit of the party!  The kids kept coming back to the sensory table to see if the ice melted.  During each visit certain toys began to emerge from the ice.  It became a great sensory and texture exploring activity. They were totally fascinated by it!  As the party came to a close, I realized the ice wasn't melting fast enough for them to retrieve their favors.  I gave the kids cups and squirt bottles filled with water to melt the ice faster.   Another great science experiment!  I would totally recommend this activity for parties or when ever.

Growing Bugs

For decoration and added science observation, I lined our windowsill up with these fun containers filled with bugs that grow in water.  Two days prior to the party, I added a few bugs at a time to show the various stages.  As a give away, I gave the kids their own bugs to grow.

Lava Water Science Experiment

Every kid at the party made it to the table for this activity.  It was just too irresistible! An absolute huge hit!  I pre filled squirt bottles with food coloring and water so the kids could take part in actually filling the test tubes.  I pre-filled the vegetable oil at various levels because it was just too messy to leave that step to so many toddlers ;)  After all the tubes were filled with colored water, I gave them generic alka seltzer tabs.  We went through 48 tabs in 15 minutes!  They couldn't get enough of this activity.

Ceiling Balloon punch

Unfortunately, things got a little too crazy for me to take photos of every activity. This was a new twist on our ceiling activity fun.  I filled balloons with just a little water and inflated them 3/4 of the way so they had a fun punch and swing when the kids hit them ( hang from string taped to ceiling).  This was an ongoing activity that the kids kept coming back to.  So simple, so fun!  Totally try this for your next festive event.

1. Make the kids lab coats using adult white T-Shirts.
2. Pick up a bunch of lab goggles at the dollar store
3. Have the kids do their own science experiments using test tubes.  We'll be doing lava and dancing raisins
4. Put a fogger on the table
5. Create a rat maze, using card board boxes
6. Create an electricity room with light up toys, black lights and black fabric to block off a hall.  The lab coats will glow in the room!  I also picked up several glow in the dark balloons to hang on the ceiling of the hall.
7. We have a huge sensory table where I plan to have our Ice Melt activity.  Inside will be various sizes of ice with things inside.  Once the ice melts, the kids can retrieve the prize inside.
8. Ceiling activities are a huge hit at parties.  For this theme, I'll hang punch balloons.  The kids are a little older so it should turn into a fun game of them trying to make it through the maze of balloons without being hit.  I'll also have those fun sticky hands that they can use to try and catch a balloon.
9. Flubber Attack will be another fun activity.  I'll have a bunch of plastic funnels in various sizes so they can experiment with the texture.  Inevitably, they will let the flubber hang from the table and try to escape from it.  I'll use lime green flubber for this one.
10.  Our cake will be a crazy purple minion.
11.  Brendan's favorite song is the YMCA.  I'll have various costumes laid out for when we play it.  Hoping to recreate the fun scene of the minions dancing to it at the end of Despicable Me 2.
